Short Game School at The Academy

The Short Game School at La Cantera
Presented by PGA Golf Professional, Mike Vardeman
2008 South Texas Harvey Penick Teacher of the Year

Saturday Mornings from 8:00am-12:00pm

This 4 hour short game school is designed to improve your scores through a better understanding of how to get the ball into the hole quickly from 60 yards and in.  We will educate you on your equipment, the physics of the game, and how understanding the two will lead to better decision making around the green.  As every golfer knows this is the most effective way to lower your scores and can truely be one of the more entertaining aspects of the game to practice.

Let a PGA Golf Professionals at The Academy at La Cantera get your short game on track.  It's what they do.

The 6 keys covered in class:
  1. Chip and Run: This is a shot that will save you around the green, and the score on your card.
  2. Short Pitch: Confidence in this shot is what it's all about.
  3. Long/Short Putts:  Knowing how to practice these putts will lead to more birdies and par saves.
  4. Bunkers:  A good understanding of how a sandwedge is designed to get the ball out of the sand will allow you to perform this shot with true skill.
  5. Tall Grass:  This is all about technique and learning how to get more use and versatility out of your wedges.
  6. Uneven Lies:  You must understand how this affects the flight of your golf ball in order for the ball to end up near the hole.
